On 11 November 2025 the International Sakharov Environmental Institute of
Belarusian State University was visited by IAEA’s EduTA mission. The EduTA
mission includes a group of international experts and IAEA staff, led by Jenia
Vassileva (Bulgaria). The group also includes mission coordinator Andrea Luciani
(IAEA), and experts Aleksandr Vodovatov (Russia) and Sotiris Economides
(Greece). The issues scheduled for review included the potential for the
International Sakharov Environmental Institute of Belarusian State University to
host international postgraduate educational courses on radiation protection and
safety. The programme of the visit focused on assessing the ISEI BSU’s facilities
and study programmes presented by the Course Director and ISEI BSU’s Deputy
Director for Research Dr. Maria Germenchuk, Head of Department of Nuclear
Physics (BSU) Dr. Andrei Timoshchenko, the staff of the Department of Nuclear
and Medical Technologies, and the Department of Continuing Education.
The EduTA mission’s work will contribute to strengthening the national legal and
regulatory framework for education and training in radiation protection and safety
in line with IAEA safety standards and will continue until 14 November 2025.
